What Are Pectoral Implants?
Pectoral implants, or “pec” implants, used in male chest enhancement surgery are different than breast implants. Pec implants are made from a solid form of silicone designed to not rupture or leak. Once implanted, pec implants look and feel like muscle. Pectoral implants are engineered to add bulk to help give men a classic masculine appearance.
Pectoral Augmentation Surgery
General anesthesia will typically be used during pec implant surgery. At a consultation appointment prior to your procedure, your surgeon will assess your current size and shape and discuss your goals in order to choose the size of pectoral implant that is best suited for you. An incision will be made near the armpit, which will make it easier to disguise post-op. The implant will be placed underneath the natural pectoral muscle.
Pectoral Augmentation Recovery
Pectoral augmentation patients may experience some soreness and discomfort after surgery, which can be treated with medication. Patients can typically return to work within one week, but must avoid strenuous activity and heavy lifting for 4 weeks. Weight lifting or chest workouts are limited for approximately 8 weeks after implant surgery.
