What to Expect After Breast Lift Surgery

Recovery from breast lift surgery, Las VegasWhile you may be focused on the final results of your breast lift surgery—firmer, more youthful-looking breasts—the recovery period is an essential step that can help to maximize your benefits. If you’re fully prepared for the healing process and everything that may entail, you should be able to enjoy a smoother and possibly faster recovery. During your initial consultation, Dr. W. Tracy Hankins and Dr. Samuel M. Sohn, our extensively trained plastic surgeons, will help you understand what will occur following your breast lift procedure. While everyone heals a little bit differently and your rate of recovery will be unique to you, there are a few general guidelines that may help you determine in advance how much time to set aside and what to expect.

When you awaken after the procedure, you will be outfitted with bandages on your chest. Some bruising, swelling, and discomfort is common, though our surgeons will provide you with medication to minimize pain and enhance your comfort. Long -acting local anesthetics that can numb the breast for 48-72 hours can also be utilized to maximize comfort, at a small additional cost. Most breast lifts are outpatient operations, and you should be able to return home the same day, where you will be encouraged to rest and relax. In most cases, you should be able to return to work and normal activities in approximately two weeks, depending on your rate of healing and job description; however, you should continue to avoid strenuous exercise, pulling, pushing, and lifting for at least one month or as long as our surgeons advise. They may also recommend other restrictions or provide instructions based upon your specific surgical experience and whether you received breast implants, which will be detailed to you before and after the operation.

We believe complete transparency and patient education is essential for the best possible results, and we are happy to answer any questions and address any concerns you may have before and after your procedure.
