Las Vegas Plastic Surgeon Discusses Benefits of Breast Lift With Augmentation

Dr. Hankins discusses breast lift surgery with implants.

Dr. W. Tracy Hankins of Hankins & Sohn Plastic Surgery Associates explains how breast implants can enhance the results of breast lift surgery.

Las Vegas, NV — Breasts can lose volume and elasticity over time, and Las Vegas plastic surgeon W. Tracy Hankins, MD says that surgery can help address these concerns. Mastopexy, more commonly known as breast lift surgery, is a popular option for treating breast ptosis (droop); however, Dr. Hankins indicates that using breast implants in conjunction with a lift may be a better option for some patients. He says this approach can enhance fullness, shape, and size as well as elevate the breasts to a higher, more youthful location.

Also known as breast augmentation with mastopexy, Dr. Hankins says this procedure often can provide more comprehensive aesthetic enhancement than breast lift surgery alone. He says many women see a decrease in the size of their breasts with a lift, an effect that is eliminated when using implants. The Las Vegas plastic surgeon says another reason why women may prefer a breast lift with implants is due to the ability to improve the fullness, projection, and contour of the breasts while retaining a natural-looking result. Cohesive silicone gel implants and fat grafting techniques, he says, are some of the reasons this outcome is now possible.

Dr. Hankins says another benefit of this approach is that the recovery time with breast lift surgery with augmentation should be the same as with breast lift surgery without implants. In most cases, he says patients will spend a couple of weeks off from their normal routine and about a month away from vigorous exercise. Dr. Hankins indicates that swelling can continue for up to a year, but this effect will likely be minor and may not even be noticeable to the woman.

The optimal approach will vary from person to person, Dr. Hankins emphasizes, and the most important decision will be selecting a qualified plastic surgeon. He says patients should seek out a physician who is board certified, extensively trained in breast surgery, and experienced in both mastopexy and breast augmentation.
